After receiving a Master’s in nursing from UCLA, Herron became an early pioneer in the back-to-breastfeeding movement, and educated health professionals about lactation. Her private lactation practice, Growing With Baby in San Luis Obispo, California, is used as the national model for independent breastfeeding practices by Women Infants and Children (WIC), a federally funded health and nutrition program. For more than 40 years, she has guided thousands of mothers to meet their breastfeeding goals through lactation consultations, child-rearing education classes, and support groups.

As a professional journalist, investigative reporter, and television news producer, Lisa Rizzo has won state-wide respect for writing excellence throughout her career. She was awarded a journalism Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly State University. Now a mother of two boys whom she proudly breastfed, Rizzo is a freelance writer and resides with her family in Avila Beach, California.
